Το Τσατ είναι μια από τις σπουδαιότερες ινδουιστικές γιορτές της βόρειας και ανατολικής Ινδίας, γιορτάζεται κυρίως στην επαρχία Μπιχάρ και στο γειτονικό Νεπάλ. Διαρκεί τέσσερις μέρες, κατά τη διάρκεια των οποίων οι πιστοί συρρέουν κατά χιλιάδες στις όχθες (κυρίως) του Γάγγη για να λατρέψουν και να ευχαριστήσουν το θεό Ήλιο (Surya), ενώ οι γυναίκες της κοινότητας συνοδεύουν την προσευχή τους (να δίνει ο θεός υγεία στ’ αγόρια και ευημερία στην οικογένεια) με αυστηρή νηστεία. Παραδοσιακά, το Τσατ γιορτάζεται δύο φορές το χρόνο: μία στην αρχή του καλοκαιριού και μία Οκτώβριο ή Νοέμβριο.

Φέτος, το τετραήμερο φεστιβάλ ξεκίνησε στις 27 Οκτωβρίου και ολοκληρώθηκε χτες. Το ειδησεογραφικό πρακτορείο Reuters δημοσίευσε μια σειρά από εντυπωσιακές φωτογραφίες.
